Intense amounts of active ingredients can play a major role in determining whether or now you and your family will be fully protected during your next outing. If you are seeking maximum chemical ingredient amounts and are friendly toward DEET based products, you will have a difficult time finding a better match. You see, DEET has been around for decades and was originally formulated for our troops stationed in dense jungle zones. After proving to be an ultra-effective guard against disease causing insects, DEET became a household name due to it’s cost effective production and reliable performance.
The maker of Repel 100 Insect Repellent claims that this product can fight off bites for up to 10 hours of protection. With such a high concentration of DEET, we were a little surprised at that estimated protection duration. Comparing Repel 100 to some other brands containing far less DEET and touting 8 to 10 hours protection, we thought surely this product would protect for 24 hours or so! No matter, remembering to re-apply a product every ten hours is just fine in our book. And, with other products we put under-the-microscope that provided a measly 20 minutes protection, this one certainly last quite a while.
Now we all know, no 1 product fits ‘All Folk Sizes’ and we have all heard the complaints about DEET melting plastic (and other things), so keep that in mind before filling your basement with this spray. Yes, it is powerful, and yes, it has a strong odor; but like most all other repellents with ‘mighty strong’ fragrances, this one settles down a little as it blends into your skin. The spray is simple and the formulation is clear. It dries to an oily feel and will stain garments, gear and other treasures. So, be extra careful with this one and be sure to test this on an inconspicuous area before a full application.
Taking all of this into consideration, and factoring in that this product is classified as a chemical pesticide by the EPA, I am very comfortable rating this repellent at the top chemical based insect deterrent available, and I gave it a 4.6 out of 5 stars.

Ultra-High Concentration of DEET
Repel 100 Insect Repellent has the highest concentration of DEET we could locate and provides up to 10 hours of protection against insects and mosquitoes. This product has the ability to protect you and your family from mosquitoes that transmit the Chikungunya, Zika, Dengue and West Nile viruses.
This repellent contains 98.11% DEET, or otherwise known as ‘diethyltoluamide’ in the science community. There are no essential oils or other natural repellent ingredients in this formula.
Chemical DEET Smell Fades A Little
Listed as the most concentrated DEET formula reviewed here, you might expect this repellent to have a very strong odor. Well, your expectation are correct! This spray has a very powerful chemical smell to it and while that odor does die down a little (and I mean little) after application, it never really leaves you until you wash it off. Along with that, the oily feel takes some getting used to, but if you already purchased this item, you are probably in a dense jungle right about now and ‘slick skin’ is certainly easier to deal with than potentially fatal bites!
The highest concentration of DEET found in any consumer based product.
Long lasting; up to 10 hours protection time.
Repels mosquitoes that may transmit the Chikungunya, Zika, Dengue and West Nile viruses.
Ideal for extreme environments and those highly susceptible to medical issues resulting from insect bites.
0.475oz Pen size; 1oz Pump Spray; 4oz Pump Spray.
For those wanting to avoid DEET, you will definitely want to stay clear of this powerhouse. It’s not only packed with DEET, but it has the highest concentration available.
This repellent must not be used on children under 2 years of age.
With this level of potency, I had a hard time saying anything adverse about this repellent. Aside from the fact that there isn’t a trace of anything even close to resembling ‘natural’, die hard DEET lovers flock to this like an 80’s Madonna concert. Just remember that this is a chemical based repellent and it is an intimidating one at that. It vastly outperforms lesser strength DEET based repellents and offers rock solid protection for many, many hours.
I thought long and hard about this one before giving it an honest review rating. You see, I very much so prefer all natural repellents so long as they do what they claim and provide me with the protection I expect and deserve. With that being said, there may be times when my natural repellents might find an opponent they just cannot handle, and if that day comes, Repel 100 will be the first repellent I add to my cart. taking all of that into account, I happily give this product a 4.6 stars.
